"Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, and snow is
exhilarating; there is no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of
good weather." John Ruskin 1819-1900
At 9 am the children arrive and are greeted. Parents give a general report on mood, sleep, toileting, and any other important information. The children have free play and get comfortable before their family leaves. The children choose what they will start the day with: blocks, cuddling, stories, singing, playing at the water table, or running around.
There are many activities for the children to engage in, such as puzzles, books, art, dress up, building supplies, yoga, creative movement, water sensory play and imaginative play. There is also times for baking, helping in the kitchen, gardening and crafting.
After everyone has arrived and had time to play, we join each other for group activities, and sing songs, play games,
tell and read stories and enjoy time for yoga.
We make sure to have plenty of time for outdoor play everyday, at least one hour of our day is spent outside, no matter the weather. Our back yard is equipped with chalk, a water table, buckets, cups, shovels, dirt, water, measuring cups, tunnels, and more for exploring and getting dirty. There is a large grassy yard that we use often for running, digging, climbing,
games and many other activities.
Lunch time is so much more than eating and nourishing our bodies. We use this time to build our feeling of community and to grow friendships. We help prepare food together, help bring food to the area we will be eating at that day (we often eat outdoors), learn how to make fresh juice, begin conversation skills, and use this time to learn about each other and ourselves.
During our day we will also have a morning snack, potty breaks, songs, and lots of stories.
